Polkas are in 2/4 time and are quite fast. I juxtapose eighth- and quarter-note patterns quite a bit in this tune, the quarter notes emphasizing the off beats. The rhythm is somewhat similar to the patterns heard on the dance floors of Cork and Kerry.
